Who We Are
Built by parents. Engineered for connection.
As parents and engineers, we're constantly balancing productivity with presence. Whether working from home or tackling chores, we realized we couldn't—and sometimes shouldn't—always be in the same room as our children. We value their independent play, but we struggled with the blind spot—that nagging urge to check in without interrupting their focus. We also saw how quickly children outgrow static baby monitors; the moment they start moving, a fixed camera is just watching an empty crib.
We were also tired of the FaceTime Gymnastics. It's a constant struggle: propping up a phone or trying to hold it steady with one hand while managing a toddler with the other. Either way, the phone becomes a magnet for little hands. Your loved ones on the other side end up with a shaky view of the ceiling, a close-up of a forehead, or nothing at all because a tiny palm is blocking the lens. It's heartbreaking when a call meant for connection turns into a wrestling match with a smartphone, often ending in a frustrated child and a failed attempt to just be together.
Most of all, we felt the sting of the missed moment. Those first unassisted crawls or sudden, belly-shaking laughs always seem to happen at the exact second your phone is on the charger or buried in a pocket. By the time you fumble for the camera and unlock the screen, the magic is gone. Or worse, the moment you finally pull the phone out, your child stops what they're doing to look at the device. You're left with a gallery of "posed" photos instead of the raw, unscripted reality of their day.
We felt every bit of that frustration, so we built Omi.
Omi isn't just another gadget; it's the bridge of distance and time we needed for our own homes. It's a mobile companion that follows the action, giving you a set of "remote eyes" that move with your child. Our mission is to create a true sense of presence. We built Omi so that every connection feels less like a screen and more like a shared moment — ensuring that you, your loved ones, and even the "future you" looking at the recording feel right there for the moments that matter.
We're building this for our families, and we'd love for you to help us shape what it becomes. Join us, share your thoughts, and let's build the future of parenting together.
